Father Christmas at Tesco

On Saturday and Sunday 14th and 15th and the weekends of 21st. 22nd and 23rd, Hornsea Rotary members were at Tesco with their friend Father Christmas handing festive stickers to children. All were encouraged to along with your own smartphone and take a photo of their child or themselves with the great man. Donations collected are to be spent on local good causes.

Hornsea Club Rotarian ran Chicago marathon

Hon Rtn Denys Fell and Mary in Chicago

 

Honorary member Denys Fell and his wife Mary paid a visit to Chicago, Illinois , the original birth place of the Rotary Club set up by Paul Harris.
Denys ran in the Chicago marathon on 13th October.

Last night of the Proms 21 September 2019

Last Night of Proms 2019An annual event of "Last Night of the Proms" took place at the Floral Hall on Saturday, 21st September.
It was a sell out and everyone enjoyed the night with music provided by the Humberside Police Concert Band conducted by Mr Brent Read. Police Officer Soprano, Janet Bates sang "Love Changes Everything"and the  "Rule Britannia" with music director Brent Read.
Hornsea Floral Hall was packed with revellers on the night and everyone had a wonderful time!

The event also included a short commemorative service to mark 80 years since the beginning of World War II on September 1 and 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem. Click and see the photo

Hornsea Inshore Rescue presentation with cheque

 

Rotary Club contribution of £2000 to Hornsea Inshore Rescue

Hornsea Inshore Rescue was presented with a cheque of £2000 from the Rotary Club Hornsea & East Riding on 19 September 2019.
It was attended by Sue Hickson-Marsay, chairperson of Hornsea Inshore Rescue and voluntary members of the Rescue crew with Rotary past-president Kim Pugh and Secretary Keith Twigg.
The money had been raised through numerous fundraising functions including the Last night of the Proms, Father Christmas at Tesco and raffles during club meetings of last year.

An annual Rotary Charity Am-Am Golf tournament raised 2,600 which was shared between The Rotary Clubs of Hornsea & East Riding and Holderness who were the joint organisers of the event.
34 teams took part and the winning team was from Bedale Golf Club and the runners up was from Premier Site Services.
