Rotarian Keith Twigg PHF
Rotarian Keith Twigg sadly passed away on November 9th.
He was not only a magnificent Rotarian but also an ambassador for the town of Hornsea, involved in many and various Hornsea and East Riding voluntary sector.
Mr Twigg was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list last year.
Our sincere condolences go to his wife Lynda at this very sad time.
May he rest in Peace

30th September : Last night of the Proms
Another resounding successful night at our annual Last Night of The Proms event. The Air cadets, Rotarians and friends assisted throughout the evening. The Humberside Police Concert band with direction of the Conductor Mr Brent Read, performed for the audience and received fantastic comments. A great night had by all. Hornsea and East Riding Rotary Club will continue to support the event and we look forward to the next year

A great success of RYLA at Hebden Bridge
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, or RYLA, is a leadership development programme run by Rotary for young adults for young people who are 16 and 17 years old. They take place at a scout hostel called Hebden Hey on the outskirts of Hebden Bridge Our two attendees Scarlet Robshaw and Lewis Hancox gave a presentation, describing the activities and what they learnt from the week.
Scarlet and Lewis felt they had learned a lot about teamwork, trust and themselves and had increased confidence as a result. They would definitely recommend the course

Best in Show trophy
President Fox handing over the silver trophy of 'Best in Show' to Jean Railton of Hornsea for her gluten-free coffee cake. It was the fifth Horticultural Show at St Nicholas Church, Hornsea, with a huge entries of vegaetables, flowers, cakes, art, crafts and children's work were shown. 2September 2023

Club Assembly attended by District Governor elect David Phillips
District Governor Elect David Phillips and his wife Joan attended to the Club Assembly on the 19th June.
District Governor Elect David Phillips brought greetings from District and from the President and members of his own Rotary club of Bingley - Airedale.
He thanked President Keith, President Elect Sidney and the Committee chairmen for their reports. He complimented club officers and members for the sterling work carried out in the name of Rotary in Hornsea and the surrounding towns and villages. David went on to say that there was a great sense of fun within the club which was very refreshing.

Guest Speaker Andrian Rawlins
Speaker of the night on 15th May was Adrian Rawlins, who entertained us about his career as a stage, television and film actor. He has many well-known Television shows namely, The Bill, All Creatures Great and Small. Grace, Dalziel and Pascoe, and Chernobyl. And in films, the Harry Potter movies, The Four Minute Mile, The Woman in Black and The Darkest Hour, On stage at many prestigious theatres including the Olivier and National Theatre

Hornsea Annual Hike
The 24th Annual New Year's hike took place on Sunday 26th January 2023 and was once again well supported.
The walk was approximately 6.8 miles in total, starting from Densholme Farm and then back to Great Hatfield. It was undertaken in an overcast Spring sunshine and across the gentle surrounding wonderful country side. £145 raised with £12.50 separate donation to Hornsea Inshore Rescue.
Once again, a huge thanks to all those who supported the event, also, to Rtn Paul Train who organised the walk and Rtns Ray and Sandra for refreshments and toilet facilities.

Rotarian Angus Robinson PHF
We are so sad to announce the sudden death of our Rotary member, Angus Robinson.
Angus was a founder member of the club in 1992 and the first to receive the Paul Harris Fellowship which is the most prestigious honour awarded to Rotarians worldwide. His contribution to the Rotary family and to Hornsea is immeasurable.
May he rest in peace.
