Learn for fun in retirement U3A
The University of the Third Age (U3A) began in France in 1972, founded by Professor Pierre Vellas to provide education for retired people using university facilities. The model evolved into a self-help, peer-learning movement in the UK in 1982, founded by Peter Laslett, Michael Young, and Eric Midwinter to promote lifelong learning without qualifications
The U3A in the UK (formerly University of the Third Age) is a nationwide, volunteer-led, and UK-wide movement of over 1,000 locally-run charities that provide social and educational opportunities for people no longer in full-time work, and 400,000 members focused on peer-to-peer learning. It involves members in, and offers, a diverse range of educational, social, and interest groups without formal qualifications, for a modest annual fee

The first edition of Hornsea Community News (also referred to as Hornsea & District Community News) was published on May 6, 2015. The monthly, free, hyperlocal paper was created to serve the town of Hornsea and surrounding villages, delivering nearly 9,000 copies to residents and local businesses.
Those who have lived in the area for longer will know that this isn’t something new for the town. The monthly paper was inspired by the previous success of the Hornsea Trading Post which was bought, and subsequently closed, by the Hull Daily Mail. The Hornsea Community News was born.by the now retired, founder and former Editor of the Hornsea Trading Post, Doug Orry,
